Search for Victory Housing

NALDS 2005 has ended. The closing of my last AIESEC conference for a long while- and when I return to another I will be in a very alumni mentality. Afterwards I stopped for a day in the most hospital and entertaining company of Karen and Master Max von Stolberg – for the perfectly debaucherous eating and chilling post-conference recharge. Now I’m back in the AI office in Rotterdam- in such a different mental space then when I sat here some four months ago.

The next challenge; finding a cool apartment in Amsterdam before beginning work. I understand this will be incredibly difficult to find but it is a most necessary ingredient for enjoying true Victory Life in the fair city. If anyone has any leads, networks or ideas that may help this Odyssey please let me know.

Arthur Goes To A-Town

For the last week I have been chairing a leadership development conference in the snow covered Harz mountains of Northern Germany.


On Tuesday afternoon I left the mountains and conference upon a train to the Netherlands. I arrived at midnight upon the door step of Mr Brodie J Boland and we regaled the evening with tales of past months discoveries. The following morning I headed to Amsterdam and the final selection interviews for a role in leadership development program design for ABN AMRO. After enjoying a few rounds of interviews and discussions I took a brief amble through the streets of the fair city before returning by the five hour train journey.


As soon as I returned to the snow covered site that evening I saw the conferences delegates shrouded in the warm glow of the official dinner behind tinged glass. In minus five degrees and wearing only a suit, I stood in the falling snow balancing my laptop on my palm and trying to get wireless connection to check my mail. This done I walked into the hall to give my returning address and the first annoucement that I will be spending the next year of my life in Amsterdam working in corporate leadership development; a continuation of my focus on leadership and learning that guided me for the last years- and an important step upon my path towards the university I envision.

Out of Alexandria

I’ve been living very nicely in my North-African abode, fronting the Mediterranean and contemplating the metaphysics of ancients. I would use the world hermit, except hermits don’t usually go in for weekends partying in Africa’s biggest city- Cairo. Nonetheless, compared to the previous years things have been pretty sedentary.

Until today that is, the second of November and anniversary of the maiden flight of the Spruce Goose, when I was told that the next stage in applying for a position I’ve been after is an interview in the fare city of Amsterdam. This put me into a spin.. A spin only to be redoubled when later today it turned out that I would be chairing a leadership conference in Germany around this date and would thus need to leave even sooner. In less than a week the Wonders of Egypt will fall into a kindly kept memory and high held hope of return.
